Thai Grilled Lobster

An amazing ‘showstopper’ recipe for your next BBQ! This recipe can be doubled easily to suit however many servings you need.


  • 1 Lobster, a 450g-700g lobster will serve 1-2 people.
  • Juice of 2 limes
  • 2 tsp Thai Taste Tamarind Paste
  • 3 Garlic Cloves
  • 1 tbsp Thai Taste Galangal
  • 1 large tbsp Thai Taste Palm Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Thai taste Fish Sauce
  • 2-3 Birds-eye Chillies, use only one if you prefer less heat!
  • 1 large bunch of fresh Coriander, also the stalks!
  • 3 tbsp Vegetable Oil

Steps for cooking

  • 1.In a food processor combine all the ingredients, except for the lobster, and blend until a rough paste is created.
  • 2. Use cold water to help loosen the marinade into a thin paste.
  • 3. Cut the lobster in half lengthways and place fresh up on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  • 4. Spoon the dressing on the lobster halves and let marinate.
  • 5. Place the tray under a hot grill and cook. The lobster needs to be cooked thoroughly. For our sized lobster,it took about 9-11 minutes.
  • 6. Serve immediately

Chef’s Tips

If you are using a BBQ to grill, place the lobster halves on the hot BBQ, you will need to turn over the lobsters during cooking for a more even cook, using any left-over marinade to brush on.
