Tamarind is known for it’s bold, tangy, sour and sweet flavour, which makes it great for making delicious marinades for tofu, chicken & fish! These skewers make a great appetiser, party finger food or for your next BBQ!

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp Heaped Thai Taste Tamarind Paste
  • 60g Thai Taste Palm Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1/2 tsp Dried chilli flakes
  • 1 tsp Thai Taste minced Galangal
  • Salt & Pepper for seasoning.
  • 280g Extra firm Tofu - cubed into bite-sized chunks
  • pre-soaked bamboo skewers.

Steps for cooking

  • 1.In a large mixing bowl combine the tamarind paste, palm sugar, soy sauce, chilli flakes, galangal, salt and pepper and mix.
  • 2. Add in the cubed tofu and stir to coat the tofu evenly. Leave to marinade for at least 30 minutes.
  • 3. Thread the tofu onto your bamboo skewers.
  • 4. Place the skewers on a hot BBQ grill or on a hot griddle pan. The natural sugar in the tamarind and palm sugar will char and caramelise giving the skewers a smokey flavour. Serve immediately!
